Description of Services, Activities & Research Interests
Open Technologies (or open.tech) is a creative agency specialized on innovative technologies and the internet. It was founded in 2015 in Corfu and Athens.
Our social and cooperative nature aims to be an alternative to the traditional forms of production. As a social cooperative enterprise, we have a social purpose, we operate cooperatively which means that every member has one vote, but we also have a commercial character as a business.
Our main social cause and undertaking is the promotion of a new form of labor relations, which will eventually eliminate the issues and problems which occur in working conditions of regular corporations. We aim to spread the idea that work can be creative, and work environments can be pleasurable. Our purpose is to integrate young people mainly into an emancipation process for the adoption of a dynamic lifestyle, work and learning. We just need to alter the way business corporations are organized and promote cooperation and solidarity instead of antagonism.
Special mention should be made about our focus on Open Source Software which is the second element of our social purpose. Open Source Code and Open Source Software is rapidly changing what we used to know about the internet. Internet is a revolutionary medium that creates respectively revolutionary forms and standards. Using Open Source Software reduces dependence on large software companies. Open Source Software creates alternative ways of disseminating knowledge, technological discovery, collaboration, production and distribution. Open.Tech monitors, records, develops, uses and disseminates open source products and services and generally any form of technology that promotes peer-to-peer production.
As a cooperative organization Open Technologies operates with a democratic manner, it applies a wage convergence system and its operation is governed by the rules laid down in the recent Law 4430/2016. On a daily basis, we carry out an informal meeting every morning in our offices setting out the schedule and tasks of the day. Approximately once a month, all members gather and co-decide on all important issues and the medium-term strategy of the cooperative.

It undertakes business consulting specifically on financing but also on integrating innovation and new technologies.
