In the context of the research program “CityTrails”, the development of two tools “City Pass” and “Digital City Trails” is proposed. Project’s main goal is to focus on the rapidly growing market of the cruising Tourism in Greece.

The first objective is the creation of a City Pass (Corfu City Pass etc), which will unify selected services and places of interest in each particular city-port. Visitors will have the ability to obtain a City pass by various ways. A website will be developed and a mobile application as well. The website will be used as a selling point for City Passes, and it will provide information about cultural and sightseeing places of interest in the cities we target. By obtaining a City Pass users will have the ability to access various Museums, sights, and businesses with a discount saving both time and money.

The second objective is the development of a mobile app “Digital City Trails”. All places of interest submitted under City Pass will now be used to create routes in each City. These routes will be based upon the users’ needs and other parameters. For example, their duration of stay can be taken into account, therefore the application can propose routes of different durations (3h-5h-7h). We also intend to take other parameters into account like the users age group (18-24, 24-40, 40+ etc.), personal interests (local cuisine, historical and cultural landmarks etc.), and ease of access for people with mobility issues etc. Moreover, advanced users will also have the option of creating their own routes according to their interests from scratch. In general, users of the app will be able to make reservations in local restaurants and events, enjoy free museum and other cultural interest areas access, and obtain coupon discounts and other useful information.

The aim of the project is to assess – through research – the economic potential for the implementation of the two new services: ‘City Pass’ and the ‘Digital City Trails’.
